Holding Hands

This may be one of my all time favorite photos of the kids. I apologize for the fuzzy quality. I snapped it on my phone as quickly as possible, because I knew they would not remain in this position for long. Do you see their hands? Waverly often reaches over to hold Oliver's hand, but typically he swats her away. Not today. He took her hand and held it. It is such a simple gesture, but it speaks volumes to me.

This picture just fills my heart with joy and my eyes with tears. As it speaks volumes to you, it also speaks volumes to the outside world. It tells a story of love and acceptance, of a family who has to endure more than anyone should have to, yet they live life gracefully and lovingly. You and Matt are the text book definitions of 'unconditional love', and you teach me lessons with every blog post. Lessons of patience, love, acccceptance, and being real.
I so wish your story had a different ending, but it doesn't, and as much as you don't want to, you accept your life and do your absolute best to create the most loving world for your children. Thank you for that. I hope you have a wonderful time at the beach ...I think that is wonderful you guys are getting out of town. I cannot imagine the dissapointment of things not being "the way they should be' ... but in the end, things are the way the should be for you. God gave you, and the world, two amazing children who have touched the hearts of so many.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. God bless you all.
Love,
Kate
