Soothe the Suffering

Our long lashed boy is continuing to struggle. He had a tonic clonic seizure over the weekend. Thankfully it wasn't as dramatic as those in his past due to a new medication. However it was still sad to see his little body fail him yet again. This particular seizure, while not has long as others, wiped him out. He slept for a few hours after and that night was in bed for fifteen hours.

We are in the midst of unknown. And I hate it. I am trying to focus on the present - the today we have been given. The realist in me wants to plan, to have conditions. We made a short list of fun activities to do in the next month. We will take in two more Nats games and hopefully take a day trip to the beach. Oliver has always loves the waves. There are also a few fall festivals that have become tradition for us.

I have been saying this prayer nightly:

Keep watch, dear Lord with those who work, or watch, or weep this night. And give your angels charge over those who sleep, tend the sick. Lord Christ : give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous, and all for your love sake. Amen

This is a beautiful prayer for your beautiful boy, Shannon. I prayed it with you, for your family, last night. And will continue to do so.
I will pray as well. You have been given the precious task of caring for those who cannot care for themselves. This is more painful than I can imagine, but I know it has transformed you to be more Christ-like and that is what I know we should all strive for. My prayers are with you.

Thinking of you everyday. If you ever need any financial support to make games or outings happen please don’t hesitate to ask. Would love to help you guys have a great family day. I am sorry I can’t offer peace instead.
