Please Sleep

This has been a tough week. Oliver has been waking up really early in the morning, causing him to be quite grumpy the rest of the day. And Waverly is having a difficult time going to sleep at night. It makes for long days. Wavey is continuing to do well at school. Oliver had his first speech & language therapy session this week. He did beautifully. He was so attentive and his focus was so good. I think Priya (therapist to both kids) was shocked that Waverly used to be the same way at that age. It is startling how much she has changed.
In other news, one of Matt's co-workers is arranging a fundraiser BBQ for the kids in July. It will be a chance for friends and co-workers to donate to our family so we can set up a safe room in DC or to donate to the MPS Society in honor of the kids. I am so moved by the generosity of others. It is very humbling.
The past few days have been difficult for me, personally. I could use your prayers and encouragement. I have been sad - deeply sad.

Shannon - we are praying, and will continue to pray. My heart breaks for you. I pray that God will reveal to you and Matt how best to care for your children, and how best to care for each other during this difficult time. You are often on my mind, and as such, often in our prayers.

Dear friend,
I will certainly pray for your sad heart! I am sure the sleeping thing compounds it all. The kids being off with their sleep can certainly take a toll on the whole family.

Let us know how the BBQ goes...it sounds so fun!

Love, Blaza

Shannon--I am praying for you right now. I am praying that God will take some of this burden off your heart. I am praying that he will give you times of joy in the midst of this great sorrow.

I would love more details about the bbq. I know we couldn't attend, but I would love to know how to contribute.

Hi Shannon, you don't know me at all, but I'm a friend of Heidi M's and I've been following your journey for a few months now. I can't imagine the strength you have to mine every day to face what you're facing. I think about you and your family often, and while I'm not a pray-er, I am sending all the positive energy I can muster your way. I don't have any advice other than to remember to take it easy on yourself too. (And Heidi said that the crazy long hours of daylight are wreaking havoc on her kids sleep schedules too -- so I'm sure moms all over the UK are in your same boat, if that helps.) Sending you hugs from a stranger -- Michelle

You don't know me but I have been following your blog and have been praying for you and your husband as you go forward. Not anyone can predict how the news you received would affect them, but I do know that God has a plan to use your situation to help others. I know He will send people to you to lift you up when you are weary and I know He will send someone when you feel like you can't go on. He promises never to leave us or give us more than we can bear. I believe that sharing your story will touch many lives.

Hi Shannon,
I can remember when my kids were young and how exhausting they could be. I am praying that God will strengthen you and encourage you. That is awesome about the bbq. Please let us know how we can contribute without attending.

I stumbled upon your blog about a month or two ago and have been following and praying for you since. I felt it was time to come forward so you would know about additional supportive thoughts and prayers coming your way. I can only imagine what you are going through. It brings me to tears thinking of it. You are such an incredibly strong woman and an inspiration for everyone to remember to cherish the time we have with our children because it can be all too short. When I see pictures of Waverly and Oliver I see two incredibly happy children who know they are loved. I will continue to pray for your entire family throughout this ordeal, as your wait and pray and hope, probably bracing yourself for the worst but secretly hoping for a miracle. And I am not sure whats worse.
And of course, I am hoping for sleep to come your way :)

Shannon,
You were on my heart today, I want you to know that, in fact, you are quite often. You are such a pillar of strength, an incredible example to me of what God meant in Proverbs 31. You are in His arms, as is Matt, and your beautiful children.

Strange irony...I was in the Allentown area today and drove right by where you lived in high school. It made me smile to think of some funny memories, I also got a little choked up thinking of the burden you carry daily. Remember...cast you cares upon HIM. He loves you all and is near you every moment of every day.

As you prepare to move back to the states, please email me, katie_weigle@yahoo.com. I'd love to get together with you sometime, I'd love to meet Matt, Waverly and Oliver! :)

Love,
Katie (Wilder) Weigle
