At Long Last

Waverly's chair FINALLY arrived this afternoon.  It took over 8 months, but it is here.  It is technically called a classroom chair, but is basically provides a safe place for Waverly to sit and eat.  She is simply too big for a highchair or booster seat and she can not longer sit in a regular chair.  It provides her with supports for good posture.  It also comes with a HUGE tray for eating and playing.  The chair is totally adjustable, meaning it should fit her for years to come.  It is a bit plain to look at and a bit overwhelming at first, but it is going to make life a little easier.  I think it will also be portable enough to take with us on visits to family and friends' houses.  She loves sitting in it.

I am trying to think of ways to decorate it a bit - make it Wavey's.  If anyone has any ideas, please share. I am not super crafty.  It is a laminated wood.  I am thinking stickers.

That's great - I'm glad you finally got what your family needed! You might think about "foamies" as decorations. They're cute & come in all shapes & sizes & letters. They're basically just puffy stickers - you can get animal shapes and glitter ones and all sorts of things. My mom uses them for all her art classes. Michael's or Ben Franklin Crafts would have them.

After seeing your Christmas cookies, I don't believe that you are not super crafty :) How about decoupage? I've never done it, but that's what came to mind when I read the post. That way you'd have a wipeable surface.

I would get a laminated cotton print, like one of the new Amy Butler's laminates and cover the whole top, and staple it on the bottom of the tray. It would be smooth, and easily wipe-able! :)

You could also try those removable wall or window clings then you could change it later
Could you get her to put her hand prints on it with non-toxic paint? That would be cute and make the chair truly hers.

I was also going to suggest decoupage...it is a VERY easy way to personalize...you could use paper, pictures, fabric...WHATEVER! You would just put Modge Podge down on the chair, then put on what you chose (ie, paper) then go over with two or three layers of Modge Podge (drying between layers)...in addition, if you wanted to, you could finish off with a lacquer spray to give it a shiny finish but that would not be necessary...

I was going to suggest decoupage also! I think it would work fabulously!!!! You put on it whatever you want and you could pick out some GREAT scrapbooking paper and use it for your design?

I agree with the foamies, they come in so many varieties, maybe she could even help a bit.
